Novak Djokovic Secures 31st Consecutive Win at Australian Open

Serbian tennis sensation Novak Djokovic has etched his name in history by securing his 31st consecutive victory at the Australian Open. His triumph came against Argentine player Tomas Martin Etcheverry, with scores of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), propelling him into the fourth round of the tournament.

According to Opta, Djokovic has now become the second player in the Open Era to achieve more than 30 consecutive singles victories at the Australian Open, trailing only behind Monica Seles, who secured 33 consecutive wins between 1991 and 1999.

In his post-match interview, Djokovic expressed satisfaction with his overall performance, particularly in the first two sets. He described the match as great, highlighting it as his best performance in the tournament.

Acknowledging the resilience of his opponent, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, Djokovic noted the elevated level of play in the third set. He emphasized that both players gave their best, engaging in a head-to-head battle. The Serbian tennis star managed to secure victory in straight sets during the tie-break.

Despite Etchev’s commendable performance earlier in the week, defeating Andy Murray and Gael Monfils in straight sets, he encountered difficulties when facing Djokovic.

Djokovic is now on the cusp of securing his 25th Grand Slam title, potentially surpassing the record held by Australian Margaret Court. In the upcoming round, he will face either France’s Adrian Mannarino or American Ben Shelton.
