Olympian Manu Bhaker Responds to Speculation Over Pistol’s Cost Following Paris Victory

Indian Olympic shooter Manu Bhaker made history at the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning two bronze medals. She became the first Indian athlete to claim multiple medals in a single edition of the Games, with victories in both the women’s 10m air pistol event and the mixed team event.

There had been rumors circulating on social media that Bhaker’s pistol was worth over $12,000. However, in an interview with Sports Next, she clarified that the actual cost of her pistol ranges between $1,800 and $2,200. She explained that the price varies depending on whether the pistol is new, second-hand, or custom-made. Bhaker also mentioned that once an athlete reaches a certain level, companies often provide equipment for free.

Following her Olympic success, Bhaker has been in the spotlight, with fans and media closely following her journey. In a recent interview, she shared her passion for shooting and her commitment to winning more medals for India. She mentioned that while she enjoys other activities, shooting remains her top priority.

Bhaker also spoke about managing her emotions, revealing that she channels her anger into positive energy, which is essential for her performance as a sportsperson.

Her bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event was India’s first at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She qualified for the final with a score of 580 points and secured the bronze with a final score of 221.7, making her the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal.

Reflecting on her journey, Bhaker expressed gratitude for overcoming challenges, including her disappointing performance at the Tokyo Olympics, where her pistol malfunctioned. She credited her mental toughness, developed with the guidance of her coach Jaspal Rana, for helping her achieve success.

Bhaker thanked her supporters, sponsors, and coach for standing by her, dedicating her medal to them. She ended India’s 12-year wait for an Olympic shooting medal, opening the country’s account at the Paris Games.
