Pakistan Advances to Snooker World Cup Semi-Finals

Pakistani snooker players Asjad Iqbal and Awais Munir have advanced to the quarter-finals of the IBSF Mongolia World Cup Men 2024, continuing their strong performance in the tournament.

In the Round of 16, Iqbal made an impressive comeback to defeat Hong Kong’s Chang Yu Kiu 4-1. After losing the first frame 08-89, Iqbal won the next four frames with scores of 74-62(62), 71-12, 57-46, and 71(68)-24.

Munir also moved forward by overcoming Chau Hon Man of Hong Kong 4-2. Despite losing the first frame 44-81, Munir won the second 80-08, then recovered from dropping the third frame 17-65 to win the fourth 88-42 and the final two frames 85(79)-05 and 66-34.

The quarter-finals are set for tomorrow at 10 am local time, where Iqbal will face Gao Yang of China and Munir will compete against Ali Gharahgozlou of Iran.

Both players won their third matches in the group stage without losing, securing their places in the Round of 16. Awais defeated Iran’s Siyavosh Mozayani 3-1, while Asjad beat Qatar’s Ali Alobaidli with frame scores of 59-36, 26-63, 58-19, and 70-58. Both players topped their groups to advance to the pre-quarter finals.
