Pakistan is gearing up to host its first-ever Under-23 World Squash Championship, set to take place from April 6-10 at the DHA Creek Club Squash Stadium in Karachi. This event will see 32 countries competing, marking a major milestone for the sport in Pakistan after decades of absence from such high-level competitions.

Pakistan’s rich legacy in squash is undeniable, with legends like Jahangir Khan, Hashim Khan, and Jansher Khan leading the charge in previous decades. More recently, Hamza Khan’s victory at the 2023 World Junior Squash Championship has brought the sport back into the limelight. The nation has a strong infrastructure, including many professional training centers, and has hosted numerous international tournaments over the years.

To show their support, the Sindh government has pledged Rs30 million for the championship. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon presented the cheque last week, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting sports and strengthening Pakistan’s international reputation.
