Saim Ayub Set for Fitness Test as PSL Participation Hangs in the Balance

Pakistan opener Saim Ayub is nearing a key milestone in his recovery as he prepares for a crucial fitness test at the National Academy in Lahore. His return to competitive cricket and participation in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) remain contingent on his medical clearance.

Ayub’s recovery follows an ankle fracture sustained during the Cape Town Test against South Africa in January. The injury, which occurred while fielding, was later diagnosed as a fracture, requiring treatment in London under the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s supervision.

Having completed his rehabilitation after more than two months, Ayub has returned to Pakistan. PCB sources confirmed that his latest medical reports from the UK are positive. The board’s medical panel will now assess his fitness and determine if he is ready to return to action, outlining a path forward based on his recovery progress.

While Ayub is set to celebrate Eid with his family in Karachi, his participation in PSL will only be confirmed after the fitness test. His potential availability could be a major boost for Peshawar Zalmi, subject to his medical clearance.
