World Record: Babar Azam becomes the fastest batter to score 5000 ODI runs

Babar Azam, the Pakistan cricket team’s captain, has made history yet again by breaking a world record in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

On Friday, during the fourth One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in Karachi, Babar became the fastest batter in ODI history to reach 5,000 runs, doing so in just 97 innings.

This is a remarkable accomplishment, as the previous record holder, Hashim Amla, needed 101 innings to accomplish the same feat.

Babar is now the fastest batter to reach 5,000 ODI runs, followed by Hashim Amla (101), Viv Richards (114), Virat Kohli (114), and David Warner (115).

Babar also became the second-fastest Asian batter to score 12000 international runs last week, falling just short of Kohli’s record.

This remarkable feat was accomplished by Babar during his 49-run knock in the first ODI against New Zealand at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

The 28-year-old achieved the feat in his 277th international inning, whereas India’s superstar batter needed only 276.
