Yoane Wissa has completed a move from Brentford to Newcastle. The £55 million deal was finalized on transfer deadline day.
Newcastle secured the DR Congo international after a long summer saga. Offers were rejected earlier, but the final agreement was reached just before the window closed. Wissa also pushed for the move on social media as Newcastle remained determined to land their target.
He becomes the cluh’s fifth major signing this summer. The club continues its reinvestment strategy following the sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool. Wissa takes the famous No. 9 shirt, a symbol of his new role as a key attacking figure.
At Brentford, Wissa scored 49 goals in 149 appearances. Last season, he netted 19 Premier League goals, confirming his status as one of the league’s most consistent scorers.
Newcastle’s manager praised Wissa’s qualities. He pointed to his pace, power, work rate, and ability to score in big matches. With Wissa and club-record signing Nick Woltemade now on board, Newcastle have solid replacements for the departed Isak.
Wissa shared his excitement after signing. He said he was “really happy” to join one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs and looks forward to making his mark in black and white.
Newcastle fans are eager to see Wissa lead the attack. His arrival adds fresh energy, ambition, and proven quality to the squad as the club looks ahead to the new season.
