Pakistan leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has achieved a major career milestone by climbing to second place in the latest ICC T20I bowling rankings. The new rankings were released on Wednesday and mark the highest position of his international career.
Abrar Ahmed moved ahead of Indiaโs Varun Chakravarthy after reaching 736 rating points. Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan continues to lead the T20I bowling rankings with 753 rating points.
The latest rankings highlight the impressive rise of Abrar Ahmed, who has become one of Pakistanโs leading performers in the shortest format. His consistent displays with the ball have helped him move closer to the top position.
Among Pakistanโs other T20I bowlers, Mohammad Nawaz is ranked 12th in the world. Salman Mirza occupies 20th place, while Shaheen Shah Afridi remains 30th with 602 rating points.
The latest ICC update also brought changes to the T20I batting rankings. Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan remains the countryโs highest-ranked batter. He holds third place with 848 rating points.
Indiaโs Ishan Kishan has returned to the top of the T20I batting rankings. His teammate Abhishek Sharma has slipped to second position after the latest update.
Other Pakistan batters also feature in the rankings. Saim Ayub is placed 40th, while former captain Babar Azam is ranked 42nd. Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha is currently 44th.
Pakistan continues to have strong representation in the T20I all-rounder rankings as well. Saim Ayub holds third place in the latest list.
Zimbabweโs Sikandar Raza remains the top-ranked T20I all-rounder. Indiaโs Hardik Pandya is second, keeping Saim Ayub in third position.
The ICC also released updated Test rankings alongside the T20I standings. Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has climbed to 18th in the Test batting rankings.
Former captain Babar Azam has also improved his position. He now sits in 19th place after gaining one spot in the latest rankings.
Saud Shakeel continues to hold 23rd position among Test batters. Meanwhile, Salman Ali Agha has slipped two places and is now ranked 28th.
In the Test bowling rankings, Noman Ali remains Pakistanโs highest-ranked bowler. He continues to occupy seventh place in the world.
Fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Abbas both made progress in the latest rankings. Shaheen has climbed to 25th place, while Abbas has moved up to 26th.
The latest ICC rankings reflect Pakistanโs strong presence across different formats of international cricket. However, the biggest achievement belongs to Abrar Ahmed, whose rise to second in the T20I bowling rankings marks an important milestone in his career.
With only Rashid Khan ahead of him, Abrar Ahmed will now aim to continue his strong performances and challenge for the No. 1 ranking in future ICC updates.
