The Ali Tareen PCB dispute has intensified as the Multan Sultans owner officially responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) legal notice with a sarcastic “apology” video, mocking the board’s management and communication practices.
The confrontation began when the PCB served a legal notice to Multan Sultans, accusing Ali Tareen of violating multiple clauses of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise agreement. The board warned that if he did not issue a formal apology and retract his criticism, the franchise’s contract could be terminated and Tareen blacklisted from the league.
Rather than backing down, Tareen released a satirical video on X (formerly Twitter), taking aim at the PCB’s alleged inefficiency. “If you were more competent, you would know these matters aren’t handled this way,” he said, adding that he had not received “a single call, message, or email” to resolve the issues privately.
He accused the PSL’s leadership of being “surrounded by yes-men” and claimed that the league belonged to the fans and the nation — not to a few individuals in charge. His video featured tongue-in-cheek remarks, apologizing for expecting the opening ceremony to start on time, or for criticizing the “amazing” act of national stars lip-syncing during the event.
“I admit, I went too far by expecting the mic to work properly,” Tareen quipped, before sarcastically praising the “flawless” logistics that once split his team between two hotels.
Despite the humor, Tareen extended an olive branch, suggesting that both sides meet “over tea and biscuits” to settle their differences and work together for the PSL’s betterment.
The video concluded with Tareen dramatically tearing up the PCB’s legal notice, a bold move that fueled the ongoing Ali Tareen PCB dispute.
This is the latest episode in a long-standing conflict between the two parties. Ali Tareen has repeatedly criticized the PCB over league management, communication, and ownership fees. With both sides now seemingly preparing for legal action, fans are closely watching how the Ali Tareen PCB dispute unfolds and what it could mean for the future of the Pakistan Super League.
