Azerbaijan Grand Prix Weekend Begins in Baku

Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix weekend is officially underway in Baku. The event will run from September 19 to 21 at the famous Baku City Circuit. Drivers and teams are preparing for one of the most demanding races on the Formula 1 calendar.

The weekend began with free practice sessions on Friday. These sessions allow drivers to test car setups, gather data, and adjust strategies. With long straights and tight corners, the Baku track challenges both speed and control.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday. Grid position is expected to play a huge role in the outcome. Overtaking is difficult in certain sections of this narrow street circuit, so starting near the front is critical.

The main race is scheduled for Sunday. Fans are expecting close battles among the championship leaders. In past seasons, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has produced dramatic incidents, safety cars, and unexpected podium finishes. This year promises more action.

Oscar Piastri enters the weekend leading the Drivers’ Championship. He has built a strong lead over teammate Lando Norris. Max Verstappen, currently third in the standings, is also looking to close the gap. McLaren sits at the top of the Constructors’ standings, ahead of Ferrari and Mercedes.

Weather could add to the challenge. Conditions are expected to shift between warm sunshine and possible cloud cover, which may influence tire strategies. Teams are preparing for both one-stop and two-stop race plans depending on tire wear.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most unpredictable races in Formula 1. With the stakes high in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships, Baku is set to deliver another thrilling weekend of racing.
