Babar Azam Sets New T20I Record, Beats Virat Kohli

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam set a new record on Sunday, becoming the highest fifty-maker in men’s T20Is. He surpassed Indian veteran Virat Kohli’s long-standing tally.

The milestone came during Pakistan’s third T20I against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium. Babar Azam scored an unbeaten 50 off 36 balls, hitting three fours and a six.

This marked Babar Azam’s 39th half-century in T20Is, moving past Kohli’s 38 fifties. Former India captain Rohit Sharma holds the third spot with 37, while Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has 31. Australia’s David Warner is fifth with 29.

Babar’s unbeaten half-century came in a strong batting performance alongside opener Saim Ayub and all-rounder Shadab Khan. Their efforts helped Pakistan post their highest-ever T20I total against Australia: 207/6 in 20 overs.

Saim Ayub top-scored with 56 off 37 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. Babar Azam remained unbeaten on 50, while Shadab Khan added 46 runs from 19 deliveries, including five sixes and two fours.

The record further cements Babar Azam’s status as one of the finest T20I batsmen in the world. His consistency and ability to perform in big matches continue to inspire Pakistan cricket fans.
