Babar Azam Equals Virat Kohli’s T20 Record After Stunning PSL Century

KARACHI – Star batter Babar Azam ended his long wait for a T20 century with a brilliant unbeaten hundred in PSL 11. His performance powered Peshawar Zalmi to a massive total of 255-3 against Quetta Gladiators.

The innings marked a special moment for Babar Azam, who reached his century on the final ball of the innings. He completed the milestone with a stylish two. He scored the hundred off just 52 balls.

It was his 12th T20 century overall and third in PSL history. It also became his fastest PSL hundred so far. For Babar Azam, the knock ended a long drought of 67 innings and 783 days without a T20 century.

His batting display was controlled yet aggressive. He hit six boundaries and four sixes during the innings. He played with great focus and faced only one dot ball throughout his knock.

Kusal Mendis also supported strongly with 83 runs. Together, Babar Azam and Mendis built a huge 135-run partnership for the second wicket. This stand completely shifted the match in Zalmi’s favour.

The partnership also helped Babar Azam equal Virat Kohli’s record for the most century partnerships in T20 cricket. Both players now have 47 hundred-run stands in the format.

This performance also strengthened Zalmi’s dominance in the tournament. Their total of 255-3 became one of the highest scores in PSL history. It is now the third-highest team total ever recorded in the league.

It is also the highest total ever achieved by Peshawar Zalmi. The match was played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where fans witnessed a batting show.

Only two totals remain higher in PSL history. Quetta Gladiators scored 263-3 against Islamabad United in 2025. Multan Sultans made 262-3 against Quetta in 2023.

With this century, Babar Azam also joined top PSL performers. He now shares the record for most PSL centuries with Kamran Akmal, Rilee Rossouw, and Usman Khan.

Quetta Gladiators had chosen to field first after winning the toss. However, the decision did not work in their favour.

Zalmi batters dominated from the start. Usman Tariq, Abrar Ahmed, and Alzarri Joseph each took one wicket. But they were unable to stop the flow of runs.

The performance once again highlighted the class of Babar Azam, who remains one of the leading batters in T20 cricket. His innings is now being seen as one of the finest in PSL history.
