FIFA has revealed Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup. The launch took place in New York, highlighting the start of preparations for the biggest football tournament in history.
The name βTriondaβ is inspired by the three host nations of the event β the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The word combines βtri,β meaning three, and βonda,β meaning wave, symbolizing unity among the countries.
The ballβs design carries unique symbols from each host nation. Maple leaves honor Canada, the eagle represents Mexico, and stars stand for the United States. Its red, blue, and green color theme reflects the flags of the three nations.
Trionda is produced by Adidas, continuing a partnership with FIFA that has lasted since 1970. The ball uses a four-panel structure with deep seams to improve flight stability. Embossed icons and special grip textures help players maintain control even in difficult conditions.
A key technological feature of Trionda is its motion sensor chip. The chip records real-time ball movement, which will support the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. This technology was first used in the 2022 World Cup and has now been upgraded for 2026.
The 2026 World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19. It will be the first tournament to feature 48 teams, making it the largest World Cup ever. Matches will be hosted across multiple cities in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
With its unique name, advanced technology, and tribute to the host nations, Trionda is set to become one of the most iconic balls in football history.
