Four Pakistan kabaddi players have been banned for four years after refusing to undergo doping tests during the National Championship in Lahore.
The Pakistan Anti-Doping Organisation (PADO) issued the notification, enforcing the ban under existing anti-doping regulations. Officials said the players’ refusal to provide samples violated the rules and is treated as seriously as a positive doping test.
The banned athletes have been named as Ubaidullah Rajput, Malik Bin Yameen, Rana Haider, and Kashif Sandhu. Authorities emphasized that non-compliance with doping control procedures is considered a major offence under both national and international anti-doping laws.
Following PADO’s decision, the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has taken notice of the matter. The federation has scheduled a disciplinary committee meeting on January 12 in Lahore. The four players will have the opportunity to appear and present their side during the hearing.
Officials said the PKF will review the case according to its disciplinary procedures. Further action may be taken based on the committee’s findings after the meeting.
This ban highlights Pakistan’s commitment to fair play and adherence to anti-doping standards in sports. Officials noted that compliance with doping tests is mandatory for all national-level athletes to maintain integrity in competitions.
The decision has also sparked discussions among fans and the kabaddi community. Some expressed support for strict enforcement of anti-doping rules, while others are watching closely for the outcome of the PKF disciplinary review.
PADO officials stressed that refusal to submit to a doping test undermines the credibility of national competitions. They added that consistent enforcement is essential to protect the sport and its athletes.
