Germany Focuses On Victory In Final World Cup Qualification Match

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has stated that his team is fully focused on winning their final World Cup qualification match against Slovakia on Monday. The Germans aim to secure automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Currently leading Group A with 12 points, Germany only needs a win or even a draw to guarantee their spot in next yearโ€™s tournament. Slovakia sits just behind them on goal difference, having defeated Germany 2-0 in the opening qualifier in Bratislava in September.

Nagelsmann emphasized that his team is not considering the possibility of a playoff. โ€œNo, it is not an issue that we could fail. Few teams would raise this as an issue,โ€ he said during a press conference on Sunday. โ€œWe are maybe a bit nervous ahead of tomorrow. There is a lot of appeal in such a game, but we are confident we will play well and get the three points.โ€

Germanyโ€™s four-time world champions are determined to avoid a home defeat, which could push them into second place in the group and force them into a March playoff for World Cup qualification. The prospect of a playoff is something Nagelsmann and his squad are keen to avoid.

The team recently secured a 2-0 victory over Luxembourg, boosting their confidence ahead of the crucial encounter with Slovakia. Nagelsmann noted that while they would have preferred to win in Slovakia, they are focused on the present challenge and maintaining their winning momentum.

After disappointing first-round exits in the last two World Cups, Germany is eager to return to the top. Their objective is not only to secure World Cup qualification but also to challenge for the trophy in 2026, rebuilding the countryโ€™s reputation as a football powerhouse.

The match on Monday will be decisive for Germanyโ€™s campaign, with fans and analysts watching closely to see if the defending giants can secure automatic entry and continue their journey toward World Cup glory.
