Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has responded to criticism over the sixes he concedes during matches. He said every bowler gets hit for sixes and that his main responsibility is to take wickets. The pacer added that criticism does not affect his confidence or focus.
Speaking to reporters during a practice session at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Haris Rauf discussed his bowling approach, fitness, and Pakistan’s recent performances. He stressed that pace remains an important part of his bowling. He is continuing to work on his speed and physical fitness to improve his overall performance.
The fast bowler also expressed his willingness to return to Test cricket. He said playing domestic four-day cricket has helped him improve his fitness and regain his bowling rhythm. Rauf acknowledged that he previously lacked the fitness needed to perform effectively in the longer format. However, he now believes he is better prepared for the challenge.
Haris Rauf said he would be available for Pakistan’s Test team if the management required his services. His comments indicate his interest in contributing across different formats as his fitness improves.
Discussing Pakistan’s ongoing ODI tri-series against England and Sri Lanka, Rauf praised the team’s strong start. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 37 runs in its opening match. The team then secured an 87-run victory against England in Rawalpindi.
Rauf praised Pakistan’s bowling attack, which includes Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. He said he enjoys bowling alongside Shaheen and highlighted the importance of taking wickets. According to him, the responsibility of the bowling unit is to put pressure on opposition batters and secure breakthroughs.
However, the pacer also identified areas where Pakistan needs improvement. He stressed that the team must become more effective at scoring and defending big totals in major ICC tournaments. With teams regularly crossing 300 runs in modern cricket, Pakistan needs to strengthen its approach.
Rauf suggested that Pakistan should aim to score around 350 runs and defend those totals. He also highlighted the importance of taking wickets during the middle overs. He noted that the ball change after 34 overs can influence bowling conditions and create additional challenges.
The fast bowler also backed Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman to return to form. He praised Pakistan’s middle order for making valuable contributions during the ongoing series.
Commenting on conditions at Gaddafi Stadium, Rauf said the pitch looked fresh and could assist fast bowlers. He also welcomed bowling coach Shaun Tait’s return to the team. Rauf said Tait’s experience working with Pakistan’s fast bowlers could benefit the bowling unit.
