Babar Azam Fined for ICC Code of Conduct Breach in Third Sri Lanka ODI

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistani batter Babar Azam for violating the code of conduct during the third ODI against Sri Lanka. The incident occurred at Rawalpindi Stadium, where Pakistan sealed a decisive 3โ€“0 series win.

According to the ICC, Babar Azam committed a Level One offence after he struck the stumps with his bat following his dismissal in the 21st over. The governing body issued a penalty equal to 10 percent of his match fee and added one demerit point to his disciplinary record.

In its statement, the ICC confirmed that Babar Azam accepted the charge and agreed with the match officialsโ€™ assessment. The board noted that Level One breaches typically involve minor misconduct but are still taken seriously to maintain discipline in international cricket.

The fine comes shortly after Babar delivered an impressive performance earlier in the same ODI series. In the second match, he ended his long century drought with an unbeaten 102 off 119 balls. His innings helped Pakistan chase down the target comfortably and secure an eight-wicket win, sealing the series 2โ€“0.

Pakistan continued their strong form in the third ODI, claiming a six-wicket victory to complete a clean sweep over Sri Lanka. The series win further boosted team morale ahead of a busy schedule.

With the ODI series concluded, Pakistan will now shift focus to the upcoming T20 tri-series in Rawalpindi. The event begins today and features Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe as the competing teams. The tri-series is expected to serve as a key preparation phase for Pakistan as they gear up for future international commitments.

Cricket analysts see this disciplinary action as a minor setback for Babar, but they believe it will not overshadow his recent return to form. Fans, meanwhile, hope the star batter carries his momentum into the T20 competition.
