International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan players 5% of their match fees following a slow over-rate violation in the ODI Tri-Series 2026 final against Sri Lanka.

The disciplinary action came after Pakistan fell one over short of the required bowling rate during the match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, October 31.

According to the ICC announcement issued on Monday, November 2, match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the penalty after considering the permitted time allowances.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi admitted the offence and accepted the proposed punishment, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.

The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers minimum over-rate violations.

Under this regulation, players receive a fine of 5% of their match fees for every over their team fails to complete within the allotted time.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Wayne Knights, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Rashid Riaz.

Despite the disciplinary action, Pakistan retained their ODI Tri-Series title after defeating Sri Lanka by three wickets in the final.

Pakistan successfully chased Sri Lanka’s target of 326 runs, finishing at 331 for seven with nine balls remaining.

Fakhar Zaman played a leading role in the successful chase, scoring 127 runs from 99 deliveries. His innings included 11 fours and six sixes.

Saad Baig also contributed 74 runs, while Arafat Minhas scored 61 to help Pakistan complete the chase.

Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 325 runs for eight wickets in their allotted 50 overs, with Kamindu Mendis scoring 131 runs.

Pakistan’s victory secured the tournament trophy, while the ICC’s financial penalty remained a separate disciplinary matter.
