India Crush West Indies by an Innings and 140 Runs in Dominant Test Victory

India

India continued their dominant run in Test cricket with a massive win over West Indies, defeating them by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test in Ahmedabad. The match ended inside three days, showcasing India’s complete control with both bat and ball.

Batting first, India piled up a total of 448 for 5 declared. KL Rahul led the charge with a fluent century, while Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja also reached three figures. The hosts showed patience and power, taking full advantage of a flat pitch early on before shifting gears to build pressure.

In response, West Indies struggled to handle India’s world-class spin attack. The visitors were bowled out for 162 in their first innings, with Ravindra Jadeja taking four wickets. Forced to follow on, they fared no better in the second innings, collapsing for just 146 runs. Jadeja once again shone with the ball, while India’s pacers cleaned up the tail quickly.

The all-round performance earned Jadeja the Player of the Match award. Captain Shubman Gill praised his side’s execution, calling it a “complete team effort.” He credited the bowlers for maintaining pressure throughout both innings.

On the other hand, West Indies skipper Roston Chase admitted his team’s failure to build partnerships. He said the batting unit needed more resilience and focus to compete in Indian conditions.

With this win, India now lead the two-match Test series 1–0. The victory also strengthens their position in the World Test Championship standings. The second Test will begin in New Delhi on October 10, where West Indies will aim to bounce back.

This result highlights India’s depth and dominance at home. Their combination of strong batting, spin mastery, and aggressive intent makes them nearly unbeatable in subcontinental conditions.
