Muhammad Irfan, the towering fast bowler, has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 42. Over his career, Irfan played four Test matches, 60 ODIs, and 22 T20Is for Pakistan, claiming a total of 109 wickets across all formats.
Known for his ability to generate high speeds with his massive frame, Irfan was a formidable force on his day. He took 10 wickets in Tests, 83 in ODIs, and 16 in T20Is. His most memorable performance came in a 2013 ODI against South Africa, where he claimed four wickets in a match-winning spell, earning a Player of the Match award.

Irfan’s T20I debut was marked by a memorable performance in India, where he dismissed Virat Kohli in a tight spell that helped Pakistan to a five-wicket win. Though his international career ended after a series of injuries, including a pelvis stress fracture during the 2015 World Cup, Irfan remained active in domestic cricket, most recently representing Khan Research Laboratories in the President’s Cup.
In his retirement statement, Irfan thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans for their unwavering support and unforgettable memories, promising to continue celebrating the game that has given him everything.
