Jay Shah is Appointed as the Youngest ICC Chairman in History

On Monday, Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was elected unopposed as the new president of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah will assume the role on December 1, following the end of Greg Barclay’s tenure, which concludes in November.

Shah was elected after Barclay decided not to seek a third term. In his acceptance speech, Shah committed to enhancing cricket’s global presence and popularity.

He highlighted the inclusion of cricket in the LA 2028 Olympics as a key opportunity for the sport’s international growth.

โ€œI am honored to be nominated as the Chair of the International Cricket Council,โ€ Shah said. He pledged to work closely with the ICC team and member nations to further globalize the sport, emphasizing the need to balance various formats, embrace new technologies, and expand the reach of ICCโ€™s major events.

Shah concluded by aiming to make cricket more inclusive and popular worldwide.
