SIALKOT โ Kamil Khal has announced his departure from the Sialkot Stallions franchise after recent management decisions. The announcement came through a social media statement shared earlier this week.
In his message, Kamil Khal explained that he joined the leadership team because of his strong support for Pakistan cricket. He said he accepted responsibility for the cricketing side of the franchise with dedication.
According to Kamil Khal, the team achieved several milestones in a short period. These included securing Australian cricketer Steve Smith for the squad. The franchise also appointed Tim Paine in a leadership role and formed a partnership with sports brand New Balance.
Kamil Khal said these developments showed positive progress for the team. However, he also mentioned that certain administrative decisions created concerns.
After reviewing the situation carefully, he decided to step away from his position. He added that the decision had been made earlier but was not announced immediately.
Kamil Khal said he wanted to ensure the team remained stable before making his exit public. He stated that leaving the organization was not an easy choice.
In his message, he wished success to everyone involved with the Sialkot Stallions. He also expressed hope that the team would continue to grow in the future.
The departure of Kamil Khal follows another major change in the franchise. Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram had earlier confirmed his exit from the team.
A company had previously claimed it acquired 75 percent of the franchise shares. The company also announced plans to appoint Wasim Akram as the teamโs president.
However, Akram later clarified that no official agreement had been signed. He said discussions were limited to phone conversations.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the Sialkot Stallions franchise may soon undergo a major ownership change. Sources indicate that more than 90 percent of the teamโs shares could be sold to a new party.
If the deal moves forward, it would end the current control of the OZ Group over the franchise.
Media reports say the OZ Group has faced financial challenges in recent months. These issues reportedly made it difficult to meet obligations after some partners withdrew.
Last month, the Pakistan Cricket Board sold two new Pakistan Super League teams. The seventh team, Kingsmen, was sold for 1.75 billion rupees. The eighth team, linked to the OZ Group, was sold for 1.85 billion rupees.
