Katie Ledecky Sets a New US Olympic Record With 13 Medals

American swimmer Katie Ledecky has made history by becoming the most decorated female Olympian in US history.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, she earned a silver medal in the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay, bringing her total Olympic medal count to 13, surpassing Jenny Thompson’s previous record of 12 medals.

Β Katie Ledecky and her US team, including Bella Sims, Allison Schmitt, and Claire Weinstein, finished the relay with a time of 7:39.24, behind the Australian team, which set a new Olympic record with a time of 7:38.08.

The Australian team featured standout performances from Ariarne Titmus, Mollie O’Callaghan, Shayna Jack, and Brianna Throssell.

With a career spanning three Olympic Games, Ledecky has demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency, accumulating seven gold and six silver medals in both individual and team events since her Olympic debut at 15 in London 2012.
