Pakistan has taken a new step to support its national Hockey players after an announcement from the leadership of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The board has promised employment opportunities and medical support for players facing financial or health challenges.
According to officials, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced jobs for unemployed Hockey players. The decision aims to help athletes who struggle with employment despite representing the country in international competitions.
The announcement was shared during a meeting with members of the national Hockey team and officials. Pakistan Hockey head coach Khawaja Junaid welcomed the move and described it as an important step for players’ welfare.
Khawaja Junaid said that unemployed players will receive jobs in the Capital Development Authority. He added that the initiative would provide financial stability to players who dedicate their careers to the national sport.
He also praised the support given by the government and national leadership to revive Hockey in Pakistan. According to him, these efforts have helped the team avoid serious financial and structural difficulties.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also promised medical support for players. The board plans to arrange treatment and rehabilitation for injured Hockey athletes. Officials said player fitness and recovery will remain a priority in the coming months.
During the meeting, the chairman praised the national team for its recent performances. Players were encouraged to continue working hard despite limited resources and tough competition at the international level.
National team captain Imad Shakeel Butt said the team performed strongly in the Pro League. He noted that the squad showed good skills despite losing the final against England.
