Pakistan Opt to Bat First, Eye Series Whitewash Against South Africa in Final Test

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first in the second Test of the two-match series against South Africa on Monday. The match, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle, is being played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The home side entered the contest with strong momentum after securing a 93-run victory in the first Test held in Lahore. Left-arm spinner Noman Ali was the standout performer in that game, claiming a brilliant 10-wicket haul that led Pakistan to a memorable win over the defending champions.

With a 1–0 series lead, Pakistan now aim to seal the series with a clean sweep. The hosts are expected to rely on their spin attack once again, given the conditions in Rawalpindi that tend to assist slow bowlers. Meanwhile, South Africa will be looking to bounce back and level the series by improving their batting performance, which faltered in the previous match.

Both teams are eager to adapt quickly to the local conditions and make early breakthroughs. The pitch is expected to favor batters early on before offering some assistance to spinners later in the game.

Following the conclusion of the Test series, the focus will shift to the white-ball leg of South Africa’s tour. The three-match T20I series will kick off on October 28, with the first game scheduled in Rawalpindi, followed by two matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
