Pakistan Donates Asia Cup 2025 Final Fees to Victims of May Strikes

Pakistan

The Pakistan cricket team has announced it will donate its match fees from the Asia Cup 2025 final.

The donation will go to families affected by the May 7 missile strikes by India, which killed civilians, including children.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha made the announcement in Dubai after the final. He criticized India’s conduct in the tournament and stressed the importance of sending a positive message to young fans.

β€œIf a kid is watching in India or Pakistan, we are not sending them a good message,” Agha said. He added that supporting victims was a priority.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also released a statement supporting the donation. They offered thoughts and prayers for the affected families and praised the players’ humanitarian gesture.

The May 7 attacks had significant civilian casualties, prompting military responses and escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The donation highlights cricket as a platform for showing solidarity.

In a similar gesture, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav donated his Asia Cup final match fees to Indian armed forces and families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack.

These actions by both teams underline the humanitarian role of sports and the impact of international events beyond the field.

The Pakistan team’s Asia Cup final fee donation demonstrates solidarity with victims and emphasizes the importance of empathy and humanitarian support in international sports.
