Pakistan and Sri Lanka are set to face each other in a three-match T20 series in January 2026. The series will be held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.
The fixtures have been finalised by both cricket boards, with matches scheduled from January 8 to 12. The details are as follows:
- 1st T20I: 8 January 2026
- 2nd T20I: 10 January 2026
- 3rd T20I: 12 January 2026
The three-match T20 series is a key part of Pakistan’s preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Under the hybrid hosting model, Pakistan will play all of its World Cup matches in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) held weeks of discussions to finalise arrangements. The short tour will provide Pakistan players crucial exposure to Sri Lankan conditions, helping them adjust to pitches and weather similar to those expected during the World Cup.
Matches have been moved entirely to Dambulla due to ongoing renovations at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium and Pallekele Stadium. The maintenance work has also led to the postponement of the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League.
Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are currently playing in the ongoing T20 tri-series and have reached the final, scheduled for November 29. This three-match T20 series in January will be the next important step in their preparation for international competitions.
Cricket fans can expect competitive matches as both teams look to fine-tune their strategies and players ahead of the World Cup. The series will also offer an early glimpse of form and team combinations in subcontinental conditions.
