Pakistan’s Noor Zaman Storms into Charlottesville Open Semi-Final

Noor

Pakistan’s young squash star Noor Zaman has qualified for the semi-finals of the Charlottesville Open after an impressive victory in the quarter-final. The 21-year-old continued his fine form this season and delivered another commanding performance on the international stage.

Zaman defeated Egypt’s third seed Yahya Elnawasany in straight games. The scoreline read 11-9, 11-9, 11-9, with the entire match wrapping up in just 35 minutes. His sharp strokes, quick movement, and calm composure under pressure gave him the edge throughout.

The Pakistani talent will now face top seed Timothy Brownell of the United States in the semi-final. Brownell secured his spot by overcoming India’s Veer Chotrani with a 3-1 win in 41 minutes. This sets up a thrilling clash between Zaman and the American favorite.

Zaman entered the Charlottesville Open with strong momentum after lifting the Nash Cup in Canada. That win boosted his confidence and added to his growing list of international achievements. He is also the reigning U23 World Champion, proving his consistency in big tournaments.

Earlier in the event, Zaman received a first-round bye and then defeated England’s Tom Walsh 3-1 in the round of 16. His smooth progression to the last four shows his focus and determination to climb higher in world rankings.

Meanwhile, fellow Pakistanis Asim Khan and Ashab Irfan were unable to progress beyond the Round of 16. Their exits leave Zaman as the country’s sole representative in the final stages of the tournament.

Fans back home are hopeful that Noor Zaman can continue his winning run and reach the final. His steady rise highlights Pakistan’s rich squash legacy and the emergence of a new generation ready to carry it forward.
