The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the auction date for the new PSL teams that will join season 11 in 2026. The auction is scheduled for January 6, 2026, marking a major step in the leagueโs expansion.
In a statement, the PCB described the upcoming auction as a โsignificant milestoneโ for the PSL. The addition of new PSL teams is expected to boost fan engagement across Pakistan and create fresh commercial opportunities for the league.
Only technically qualified bidders will be allowed to participate in the auction. Successful bidders will then have the right to select their preferred city and team name from a pool of shortlisted locations. The six cities under consideration include Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit.
The PCB highlighted the PSLโs growing international stature, stating that the league continues to expand in commercial strength, global following, and overall impact. โWe look forward to welcoming new stakeholders to the PSL ecosystem,โ the board said.
The announcement also aimed to clarify recent social media rumours suggesting that the two new team names were already finalised. Some reports had claimed Faisalabad and Gilgit were frontrunners, but the PCB dismissed these claims. The board confirmed that team names will only be determined after the auction, following the official bid process.
With the inclusion of new PSL teams, the league is set to further strengthen its position as one of the premier T20 competitions in the world. Fans across the country are eagerly awaiting the auction, which promises exciting developments for the upcoming season.
The expansion reflects the PCBโs commitment to growing the league, attracting new investors, and enhancing opportunities for players and cities alike. The addition of two teams will increase competition and offer more entertainment for cricket fans nationwide.
