LAHORE: The PCB has identified another promising fast-bowling talent with impressive pace. Young pacer Qayyum Khan can bowl at speeds above 150 km/h.
Qayyum is currently training at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. He has attracted attention because of his natural speed and bowling potential.
The fast bowler comes from Jhang and entered the system through the Prime Minister’s Talent Hunt Program. He later represented Sports Board Punjab in the President’s Trophy Grade-II Silver competition.
Aaqib Javed Praises Emerging Pacer
PCB Director High Performance Aaqib Javed has identified Qayyum as a promising young fast bowler.
Aaqib said Qayyum can regularly bowl around 150 km/h. He also has the ability to cross that speed.
The PCB is now focusing on developing his skills through specialised training. The aim is to prepare him for higher levels of competitive cricket.
Qayyum’s progress will be closely monitored during the development process. Coaches are working on improving his overall bowling ability.
Fast-Bowling Camp Underway in Lahore
Qayyum is currently among 12 fast bowlers attending a specialised camp at the NCA. The five-day camp started on August 24 and will continue until August 28.
The group includes experienced international players and emerging fast bowlers. Seven players in the group are yet to earn international caps.
The bowlers are receiving training focused on technical and tactical aspects. Coaches are also assessing their recent performances.
Pakistan’s white-ball fast-bowling coach Ashley Noffke is involved in the specialised program. His experience is expected to support the development of the young pacers.
PCB Targets More Express Fast Bowlers
The PCB is also monitoring several other young pacers with significant speed. Ali Raza, Razaullah, Abdul Subhan and Abuzar are among those being developed.
These bowlers have reportedly shown the ability to cross 145 km/h. Their progress could strengthen Pakistan’s fast-bowling resources.
Aaqib Javed said the board wants to develop three or four high-speed pacers. The target is to produce bowlers capable of approaching 150 km/h.
Pakistan has a long history of producing world-class fast bowlers. The current development program reflects a renewed focus on express pace.
For Qayyum, the NCA camp could become an important step in his career. Strong performances may help him progress into higher levels of domestic cricket.
Continued development could eventually put him under consideration for Pakistan’s national team. However, he will need to maintain his pace and improve his overall bowling skills.
