ISLAMABAD – Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf will miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, reports revealed on Tuesday. The 15-member squad announced by the national team did not include him.
Team head coach Mike Hesson reportedly opposed Haris Rauf’s inclusion following his performance in the Asia Cup final. Concerns over his recent form and match readiness influenced the decision.
Since the Asia Cup, Haris Rauf has not featured in any T20I matches for Pakistan. Currently, he is participating in Australia’s Big Bash League, keeping him away from national duty.
PCB Halts Team Preparations
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has temporarily halted all preparations for the national team’s participation in the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The PCB is reportedly reviewing a parallel plan in case Pakistan decides not to participate in the tournament.
The PCB has expressed support for Bangladesh’s decision to refrain from traveling to India due to security concerns. Pakistani authorities have acknowledged these concerns as valid and well-founded. Depending on the evolving situation, Pakistan may reconsider its participation in the World Cup.
T20 World Cup Schedule
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on February 7, with Pakistan set to play its first match against the Netherlands. Further instructions for the team management are expected once the PCB finalizes its review.
