The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially announced that PCB to Host PSL matches at Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium in the upcoming season. The decision marks a major step toward expanding professional cricket to new regions within the country.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared the development during the PSL roadshow held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. He confirmed that preparations are already underway and that PCB to Host PSL fixtures in Muzaffarabad once the stadium is upgraded to meet top standards.
Naqvi said the board is fully committed to improving the venue. He emphasised that Muzaffarabad has the essential facilities needed for international cricket, including high-quality five-star hotels suitable for overseas players and officials. He added that the goal is to create a world-class cricket environment in the region.
According to Naqvi, the plan goes beyond holding league games. He stated that the venue would also be used for other international fixtures in the future. This decision aligns with the board’s long-term vision of expanding cricket infrastructure and providing fans in Azad Jammu and Kashmir an opportunity to witness top-level matches.
The move comes at a time when the PSL is preparing for expansion. The league, launched in 2016 with five franchises, will add two new teams from its 11th edition next year. This will increase the total number of franchises to eight, marking the first major restructuring of the tournament in seven years.
Officials believe that bringing PSL matches to Muzaffarabad will help promote cricket in the region and provide new opportunities for local talent. It will also attract tourism, as the scenic city is already known for its natural beauty.
