Silenced Whistle Pakistan’s Foreign Football Coach Hasn’t Been Paid For Months

Pakistan football is once again in turmoil as reports reveal that the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is struggling to pay its staff. According to reliable sources, the federation has failed to release salaries for several months, including that of national head coach Nolberto Solano.

Solano, who was appointed in July 2025, has reportedly not received his salary for the past four months. The former Peruvian international and ex-Newcastle United midfielder continues to perform his duties despite the delay. The situation reflects the deep financial and administrative troubles within Pakistan football, which has long been plagued by governance and funding issues.

Under Solano’s leadership, Pakistan’s football teams have shown signs of improvement on the pitch. He guided both the U23 squad in the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers and the senior team in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Afghanistan. While Pakistan did not manage to win, the team displayed better organization, discipline, and tactical awareness β€” showing that progress is possible even amid financial uncertainty.

The PFF has yet to issue an official statement regarding the salary delays. However, in earlier communications, the federation claimed that its bank accounts remain frozen due to internal disputes. This issue has reportedly caused repeated delays in paying coaches and other staff members.

Football analysts warn that continued financial instability could further harm Pakistan football, discouraging talented professionals from working with the federation. For a nation still building its football identity, consistency and trust are vital.

Nolberto Solano, despite the challenges, remains committed to his role and has praised the potential of local players. However, he now awaits action from the PFF to resolve the payment issue. The federation’s response will determine whether Pakistan can finally move toward a more stable and professional football structure.
