Tadej Pogacar claimed his second consecutive men’s road race world title at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda. The Slovenian rider made a decisive move early, leaving competitors behind.

Pogacar launched a solo attack 104 kilometers from the finish. Despite the long distance, he maintained a strong pace and crossed the line with a margin of over 1 minute 28 seconds. Remco Evenepoel of Belgium finished second, and Ireland’s Ben Healy took third.

The 267.5 km course featured 35 climbs and an elevation gain of 5,475 meters. It was one of the toughest World Championship routes in history. Pogacar’s endurance and strategy were key to handling the challenging terrain.

Early in the race, Pogacar worked with teammates Juan Ayuso and Isaac del Toro. Both teammates were eventually dropped, leaving Pogacar to ride alone. His solo performance highlighted his exceptional stamina and tactical awareness.

This victory adds to an already impressive 2025 season for Pogacar. He also won his fourth Tour de France title and claimed victories in Strade Bianche, Tour of Flanders, Flèche Wallonne, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Pogacar became the first rider to win both the Tour and World Championship road race in the same year twice.

Fans and cycling experts praised Pogacar’s performance. His ability to perform under pressure and challenging conditions continues to set him apart in professional cycling. Pogacar’s combination of skill, strategy, and physical conditioning makes him one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Pogacar now looks forward to upcoming races in the 2025 season. His continued dominance in major events keeps him as one of the most closely watched cyclists in the world.

The victory in Kigali solidifies Pogacar’s status as a leader in the sport and adds another major achievement to his growing list of accomplishments.
