The Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11 will be played under a new format, featuring eight teams and a two-phase tournament, reports confirm.
Scheduled from March 26 to May 3, 2026, the expanded league will host 44 matches over 39 days. The organizers redesigned the structure to accommodate more teams while keeping the tournament duration similar to previous editions.
In the new format, the opening phase will follow a single-league system. Each of the eight teams will face every other side once, ensuring balanced competition before the second stage.
The second phase adopts a Super Four-style setup, splitting the teams into two groups of four. Each team will play three matches in this round, totaling 12 fixtures. These results will determine the final standings ahead of the playoffs.
The top two teams from the Super Four phase will qualify for the playoff stage. As in prior seasons, four playoff matchesโincluding the finalโwill decide the PSL 11 champions.
Despite the new format and an increase in the number of teams, each side is guaranteed at least 10 matches, maintaining consistency with earlier seasons.
Matches will be held across Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. Additionally, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad will host its first-ever PSL games, marking a notable addition to the tournamentโs venues.
The PSL management hopes that the new format will enhance competition, maintain excitement throughout the season, and ensure every team has equal opportunities to reach the playoffs. Fans can expect thrilling contests as the eight teams compete for the coveted PSL 11 trophy.
This season promises a mix of traditional cricket rivalries and fresh matchups due to the expanded league, giving supporters across Pakistan even more reasons to follow the action.
