Rishabh Pant to Miss India vs West Indies Test Series Due to Injury

Rishab

India will be without wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies. The player is still recovering from a fractured foot that he suffered during the England tour in July. His absence is a big setback for the team ahead of the home series.

Pant had been struck on the foot while attempting a reverse sweep. Later scans confirmed the injury, and doctors advised rest. Although he has made progress in recovery, the medical team has ruled him out for the series. He also missed the fifth Test against England earlier because of the same problem.

India will now have to adjust their plans. Dhruv Jurel is expected to take the wicketkeeping role in Pant’s absence. The youngster has impressed in domestic cricket and is seen as the top choice to replace him. The first Test begins on October 2 in Ahmedabad, while the second will be played in New Delhi.

The absence of Rishabh Pant leaves a major gap in both batting and leadership. He is currently the vice-captain of the Test team and plays a key role in guiding the side. Without him, India will rely heavily on its top order and experienced bowlers to handle pressure against West Indies.

The selectors will announce the final squad by the end of September. The focus will also remain on Pant’s recovery timeline. The team management hopes to have him back before the next major series.

For now, India must look for balance. The series against West Indies provides an opportunity to test new players and check squad depth. But fans will surely miss the energy and fearless style of Rishabh Pant, who has become a vital part of Indian Test cricket.
