Sana Mir becomes first Pakistani woman inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

Former Pakistan women’s cricket captain Sana Mir has made history as the first Pakistani woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

The announcement was made during a special ceremony ahead of the World Test Championship final, where cricket legend Ian Bishop unveiled the 2025 inductees. Sana was honoured alongside global icons including MS Dhoni, Sarah Taylor, Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Matthew Hayden, and Daniel Vettori.

Sana, who played for Pakistan from 2005 to 2019, holds the record for most ODI wickets (151) by a Pakistani woman and was the first Asian woman to play 100 T20Is. She also topped the ICC ODI bowling rankings in 2018.

She led Pakistan to two Asian Games gold medals and played in five T20 World Cups and two ODI World Cups. Known for her leadership and resilience, Sana guided Pakistan to several historic victories.

“This is a very emotional moment for me,” she said. “From street cricket in Pakistan to the ICC Hall of Fame, it’s been an incredible journey.”
