Sri Lanka triumphed in the Hong Kong World Super Sixes tournament, securing the title for the second time by defeating Pakistan by three wickets in a thrilling final at Mong Kok Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka chose to bowl first, quickly taking control by dismantling Pakistan’s top order. Pakistan struggled to gain momentum, losing two wickets in the opening over. Despite a valiant effort from Mohammad Ikhlaq, who scored a solid 48 runs, the team faltered, with Faheem Ashraf adding only 13 runs. Aamer Yamin, Asif Ali, and Hussain Talat managed just six, zero, and one run, respectively, leaving Pakistan’s innings at a mere 72 runs in six overs.

Dhananjaya Lakshan and Tharindu Rathnayake were instrumental in Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, each claiming two wickets and exerting pressure throughout the innings.
In response, Sri Lanka approached their chase with caution. Sandun Weerakkody led the way with a top score of 34 runs, supported by captain Lahiru Madushanka, who contributed a brisk 19. Sri Lanka successfully reached the target of 73 runs with an over to spare, finishing at 73 for three.
Faheem Ashraf impressed with two wickets for Pakistan, but it wasn’t sufficient to stop Sri Lanka’s steady advance toward victory.
This win marks Sri Lanka’s second championship in the Super Sixes format, showcasing their continued dominance in short-format cricket and leaving Pakistan with a bittersweet feeling after a commendable journey to the final.
