Verstappen Extends Championship After Singapore Grand Prix

Max Verstappen delivered a masterclass performance at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, solidifying his position at the top of the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship standings. The race, held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, saw Verstappen finish in second place, further extending his lead in the title race.

Lando Norris of McLaren secured pole position and led every lap to claim his first career Grand Slam, finishing the 62-lap race in 1:40:52.571. Verstappen, starting from third, showcased exceptional racecraft and tire management to maintain his championship lead. Oscar Piastri completed the podium in third place.

The race was notable for its speed, marking the fastest Singapore Grand Prix to date, and was the first edition not to feature a safety car. Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest lap with a time of 1:34.486.

Verstappen’s consistent podium finishes this season have been instrumental in his championship campaign. His ability to extract maximum performance from the car, coupled with strategic pit stops and race management, has kept him ahead in the standings.

With several races remaining in the 2025 season, Verstappen’s performance at the Singapore Grand Prix has reinforced his status as a formidable contender for the title. His resilience and consistency will be key as he aims to secure another world championship.
