India star batter Virat Kohli has reached another major milestone in One-Day International cricket.

He became the second-fastest batter to complete 15,000 runs in ODI cricket. Kohli achieved the landmark during India’s first ODI against the West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

India were chasing a target of 396 runs in the match. Kohli reached the 15,000-run mark during the 29th over of the innings.

He struck three consecutive boundaries against West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph. Those shots helped him complete one of the biggest batting milestones in ODI cricket.

Virat Kohli entered the match with 14,941 ODI runs.

He had scored those runs from 314 matches and 302 innings. The Indian batter needed another 59 runs to reach the 15,000-run mark.

He completed the achievement in his 315th ODI and 303rd innings.

The milestone places Kohli among the most successful run-scorers in the history of the format. Former India great Sachin Tendulkar had also crossed the 15,000-run mark during his career.

Tendulkar reached the landmark in his 377th innings. That came during his 387th ODI appearance.

Kohli therefore reached the milestone 74 innings earlier than Tendulkar. Tendulkar remains one of the highest run-scorers in ODI cricket history.

He ended his ODI career with 18,426 runs from 463 matches. The former Indian batter played 452 innings during his ODI career.

He also scored 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries.

His highest ODI score was an unbeaten 200. Kohli’s latest achievement adds another important milestone to his long international career.

The Indian batter has regularly reached major ODI run totals at a rapid pace.

His consistency has made him one of the leading batters of his generation. Virat Kohli has also built a reputation for performing strongly in run chases.

His latest landmark further strengthens his impressive ODI record.

Reaching 15,000 runs is a significant achievement for any batter. It reflects long-term consistency, fitness and performance across many international matches.
