Former India captain Virat Kohli has shared his thoughts on his international future and plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He said he still hopes to play in the tournament. However, he stressed that respect and value are important for him.
Speaking on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru podcast, Virat Kohli explained that his intention is to keep playing as long as he is active in the game. He said representing India in a World Cup remains a major goal.
He added that people often ask him about the 2027 World Cup. His response remains simple. If he is playing cricket, he naturally wants to compete at the highest level.
Virat Kohli also clarified his current mindset. He said he will continue only if he feels valued in the team environment. If he feels he has to constantly prove himself, he may not continue in such conditions.
The star batter emphasized honesty in his preparation and performance. He said he always aims to give 100 percent effort for the team. He also stated that he plays cricket now purely out of love for the sport.
According to Virat Kohli, his motivation is not about proving anything to anyone. He said domestic appearances, like the Vijay Hazare Trophy, helped him reconnect with his early passion for cricket.
He also highlighted the importance of clear communication within teams. Kohli said players should know expectations from the beginning. Sudden changes in approach can create confusion for athletes.
The former skipper added that performance should not be judged on a single result. He said consistency can vary, but commitment and fitness remain constant strengths.
Virat Kohli further stated that he is fully ready to give his best on the field. He said he can even run hard for 40 overs in an ODI if needed, without hesitation.
On the field, Kohli continues to show strong form. In recent ODIs, he has scored multiple centuries and half-centuries against top teams like New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia.
In domestic cricket, he also delivered solid performances with high scores in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In IPL 2026, Virat Kohli has maintained impressive consistency with strong run-scoring and a high strike rate.
Overall, Virat Kohli remains focused on performance, clarity, and passion for the game as he looks ahead to the next phase of his career.
