India Beats Afghanistan by 47 Runs in Super 8 Clash of T20 World Cup 2024

In an exciting Super 8 match at the ICC T20 World Cup, India triumphed over Afghanistan by 47 runs. Held in Barbados, India dominated from the start, with captain Rohit Sharma opting to bat first after winning the toss.

India posted a target of 182 runs, thanks to a stellar 53-run knock by Suryakumar Yadav. Additional contributions came from Virat Kohli (24), Rishabh Pant (20), Shreyas Iyer (10), and Hardik Pandya (32), posing a tough challenge for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan struggled to maintain the required run rate, losing wickets regularly. They scored 134 runs in their 20 overs, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan contributing early on. Key performances from Asghar Afghan (26), Gulbadin Naib (17), and Najibullah Zadran (19) were not enough to reach the target.

India’s bowling was spearheaded by Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, each taking three wickets, with support from Kuldeep Yadav (2) and Ravindra Jadeja (1), effectively limiting Afghanistan’s scoring chances.

Both teams were playing their first match in the Super 8 stage, with India remaining undefeated. In another Super 8 match on Thursday, England claimed an 8-wicket victory over the West Indies.
