PAK vs IND: Wasim And Waqar Predict High-Stakes Clash

Former Pakistan coach Waqar Younis shared his insights ahead of the eagerly awaited match between Pakistan and India at Nassau County International Stadium in New York.

After Pakistan’s defeat against the US in their first match, they are preparing to take on India, who recently secured an eight-wicket victory against Ireland, demonstrating strong form since the tournament began.

Younis expects a closely contested match due to the pitch conditions. “My heart says Pakistan, but the New York pitch favors the faster bowlers, which evens things out a bit,” he remarked.

Similarly, former cricketer Wasim Akram expressed that India has a 60% chance of winning against Pakistan, though outcomes in the T20 World Cup can change rapidly. “India is the better team based on form, heading into the game as favorites. I’d give 60% to India and 40% to Pakistan. However, a single good innings or spell can change the game quickly. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the tournament’s highlight match,” Akram said.

Historically, Pakistan and India have faced each other seven times in T20 World Cups, with India winning five matches and Pakistan winning only once in 2021. One match ended in a tie.

Pakistan is desperate for a win following their significant loss to the United States and will face Canada on Tuesday at the same venue after playing against India.

Pakistan’s squad includes Babar Azam (c), Saim Ayub, Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Usman Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Amir, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf.

India’s squad features Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj, with reserves Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.
