Chrome’s Reading Mode to Offer Article Narration

Chrome's Reading Mode to Offer Article Narration

Google Chrome is reportedly testing a text-to-speech functionality for the reading mode in its desktop browser. This experimental feature is currently available in Chrome Canary, which is Google’s advanced version of Chrome. A user named Leopeva64 shared insights about the feature’s presence in Chrome Canary.

If activated, users can click on a play button located at the top of an article while in reading mode, prompting Google to read out the text. However, based on the shared video, the feature is still in need of improvement, as the voice sounds somewhat robotic.

It’s worth noting that Google is entering this space later compared to Microsoft, which has already incorporated a robust text-to-speech feature into its Microsoft Edge browser. This new feature could enhance the reading experience for Chrome users, particularly those who prefer to have content read aloud.
