Google has launched Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash with major improvements for AI-powered video generation and editing.

The updated model introduces longer scene extensions, improved camera controls and video output at resolutions up to 4K. Google has also moved the model beyond its earlier preview stage.

It is now generally available to developers through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.

Gemini Omni Gets Longer Scene Extension

One major improvement is the upgraded Scene Extension feature.

It allows creators to continue an existing video while preserving characters, environments and the overall storyline.

The model can analyze up to 10 seconds of previous video context.

Earlier versions could only consider the final second of the previous footage. Creators can extend their videos in 10-second increments.

The cumulative video length can reach up to 40 seconds using these extensions. Users can also enter new prompts during each extension.

These instructions can modify dialogue, camera movements or the direction of the story.

New First and Last Frame Controls

Google has also introduced first and last frame controls for video creators.

Users can provide two keyframes and ask Gemini Omni to connect them with continuous footage. The feature can help generate transitions and complex camera movements.

It can also create zoom effects and looping sequences without manually producing every frame. The model supports up to three seconds of reference video as multimodal input.

This allows creators to transfer movement and other visual information from an existing video. Characters and environments can still be maintained using other supplied assets.

Faster and Cheaper Video Generation

Google says generating videos at 360p can be significantly faster than producing standard 720p footage.

According to the company, 360p generations can be up to 60% faster. They can also cost around one-third as much as standard 720p generations.

This option could be useful for storyboards, testing ideas and rapid experimentation. Once creators finalize their concepts, videos can be generated or upscaled to higher resolutions.

The API supports 360p, 720p, 1080p and 4K output. The default resolution remains 720p.

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash Pricing and Availability

Google is charging developers approximately $0.10 per second for standard 720p video through the paid API.

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is available through Google AI Studio and the Gemini API. Enterprise customers can access the technology through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

Google has also integrated the technology with several creative and technology platforms. These include Adobe, Figma, GMI Cloud and Runway.
