Government Declares Wi-Fi Devices Unsafe Amid Cybersecurity Concerns

The government has issued a security advisory, declaring Wi-Fi devices insecure and urging organizations to enhance cybersecurity measures. The National Information Technology Board (NITB) highlighted risks stemming from default configurations and user negligence, which leave networks vulnerable to malware and data theft.

The advisory recommends strong password practices, secure encryption like WPA3, and regular updates to improve Wi-Fi security. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reports that the rise in VPN usage has led to slower internet speeds, economic losses, and increased reliance on international servers.
