Haval Unveils a Toyota Land Cruiser Competitor

Haval recently revealed official images of their forthcoming huge SUV, the H5. The SUV competes directly with the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Petrol, GAC GS 8, GWM Tank 500, and other full-size SUVs.

Originally, the Haval H5 was a compact SUV that rode on a Great Wall Motors (GWM) pickup platform, giving it a more rugged appearance. The Haval H5 has been reintroduced as the company’s first large SUV after nearly five years.

The SUV is powered by two engines: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 163 horsepower or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with up to 221 horsepower.

According to CarNewsChina, the SUV will sport a four-wheel drive (4WD) drivetrain. Furthermore, the Haval H5 might be equipped with GWM’s Hi4 Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology.

In terms of design, the H5 appears to be inspired by American SUVs. The front sports a huge trapezoidal grille with two thick horizontal chrome-plated trim elements that give it a commanding appearance. The high ridges on the engine cover and roof add to the rugged aspect of the car.

The D-pillar has been blackened, and the SUV is equipped with multi-spoke alloy wheels that create an appealing side profile. It sports a pair of vertical taillights joined by a black ornamental strip and high-mounted brake lights.

A three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, a full LCD instrument cluster, and a floating central control display were all visible in the interior photo.

The new SUV will be available in H2 2023 at a price range of Rs. 4.6 million to Rs. 5.7 million. The features list is currently unknown, but the price hints that the H5 will not be a high-end product at first. It may later receive more luxury variations.
