Huawei made an announcement last year that there would be no Kirin chipsets in 2023 due to the ongoing US ban on the company. The Chinese smartphone maker even denied earlier reports about it as “false news.” However, within nine months, Huawei introduced the Mate 60 series, powered by the Kirin 9000S platform. Now, there are reports suggesting that Huawei intends to launch another SoC, this time in the form of a Kirin 8 series.

The upcoming chip is expected to be named Kirin 830 and is rumored to debut alongside the Nova 12 series towards the end of the year. While the Kirin 830 chipset has been discussed previously, this is the first time we have a potential timeframe for its release.

Leaked posters featuring the Nova 12 and Nova 12 Pro strongly indicate that the Kirin 830 chip will be exclusively featured in the standard version of the smartphone. This particular phone is expected to have a triple-camera setup on the rear, a powerful 60 MP front-facing selfie camera, and support for fast 88W charging.

In terms of performance, early speculations suggest that the Kirin 830 will compete with chipsets like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G or Snapdragon 870. However, it’s essential to note that this information is still speculative.

The more significant concern revolves around the chipset’s manufacturing. The US companies’ control over 5G technologies and patents, which prevents trade with Huawei or its subsidiary chipset maker, HiSilicon, poses significant limitations and challenges for Huawei’s chipset development.
