In May, the number of 3G/4G users in Pakistan fell by 0.18 million

According to figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the number of cellular subscribers, broadband penetration, and teledensity in Pakistan fell for the second consecutive month in May 2023.

Pakistan’s cellular subscriber base fell from 192.60 million at the end of April to 192.27 million at the end of May. The number of 3G and 4G customers in Pakistan fell by 0.18 million from 124.29 million at the end of April 2023 to 124.11 million at the end of May 2023.

Monthly Next Generation Mobile Service (NGMS) penetration fell from 52.47 percent at the end of April to 52.3 percent at the end of May.

Cellular teledensity has decreased from 81.3 percent at the end of April to 81.03 percent at the end of May. Total teledensity fell from 82.39 percent at the end of April to 82.12 percent at the end of May.

Jazz’s total 3G user count fell from 4.510 million at the end of April to 4.445 million, a 0.065 million fall. Jazz 4G users fell from 42.588 million at the end of April 2023 to 42.377 million at the end of May.

Zong 3G customers fell from 2.613 million at the end of April to 2.577 million at the end of May, while 4G users climbed from 32.235 million at the end of April to 32.298 million at the end of May.

Telenor 3G customers fell from 2.905 million at the end of April to 2.841 million at the end of May, while Telenor 4G users fell from 23.014 million at the end of April to 22.934 million at the end of May.

By the end of May, there were 2.705 million Ufone 3G users, up from 2.745 million at the end of April. Ufone’s 4G user base climbed by 0.253 million from 12.245 million at the end of April to 12.498 million during the study period.
