Microsoft has officially launched its first in-house AI image generator, now integrated directly into Copilot and Bing platforms. The new tool allows users to create high-quality visuals from text prompts, marking a major step in Microsoft’s push to expand its artificial intelligence capabilities.
According to the company, the AI image generator is powered by a proprietary model developed by Microsoft’s AI team, rather than relying on external partners like OpenAI. This new approach gives Microsoft more control over model performance, privacy, and content safety.
The feature enables users to instantly generate images within Copilot chats, Bing Image Creator, and Edge browser without needing third-party tools. Microsoft stated that the integration aims to make AI creativity more accessible to everyday users, professionals, and designers.
In addition, Microsoft has introduced enhanced content filtering and watermarking systems to ensure responsible AI use. These safety layers help prevent the creation of harmful or misleading visuals, aligning with global standards for ethical AI development.
Analysts say the launch of Microsoft’s first in-house AI image generator signals the company’s growing independence in the AI space, reducing reliance on outside technologies while reinforcing its competitive edge against Google and Adobe.
The update is now available for all Copilot and Bing users, with more advanced features expected to roll out in the coming months.
